While you can opt to manually edit the photos, there’s a suite of impressive automatic features that you can select to ensure photos are ready to share. This includes cropping, rotating, restoring colours in faded photos and enhancing brightness, contrast and colour. There’s also the option to automatically save both an enhanced and original version of the scan – great if you want an untouched backup.

Had decades of family photos to scan digitally and couldn't face the thought of doing them 1 by 1. Upon seeing an article about a new Canon photo scanner, decided to research what was around. Decided on this Epson model instead and it was able to do all my photos in a couple of days what could have been months of work! Quality is good and I like that you can save 2 copies, original and enhanced.

Have use to archive around 8500 old photos so far. Coped really well with photos that were curved and stacks of photos of differing sizes. Good that it will read the backs of photos for any comments there. Expensive but well worth the money if you have a large number of photos to archive. Have not used as a plain paper scanner yet but am confident it would work well.
