Canon PIXMA G650 A4 Colour Multifunction Inkjet Printer

We purchased this printer to replace a Pixma Pro 9000 Mk2. We needed a top loader, with photo quality reproduction, and this printer did not disappoint. Easy to install, a bit more problematic on a Mac (depends on your OS), but that's Macs for you. Filling the tanks was zero stress, and clean. Output quality is superb and service from Printerbase was top notch. Definitely recommend.

I was surprised to receive a follow up call to my order direct from Printerbase to make sure I understood the functionality of the printer so that I would not be disappointed. I had done my homework but Lisa made sure I understood the benefits (use primarily for photo printing with ink tanks rather than cartridges) of as well as making me aware of possible limitations (max scanner resolution 600dpi; no duplex printing; no paper tray). The printer arrived the next day and has, attached to the WiFi rather than USB, has given excellent results (using Qimage for printing and Vuescan). Many thanks to all at Printerbase for your advice and support. I am a happy customer.

So far the printer is great for my needs, I’ve only done a few pages to see the quality of a photo, the copier and the scanner. I’m am very pleased with it. It had taken a while to set up as the instructions to the setup link wasn’t showing. I then found the setup on you tube, followed what they said and set it up via the lcd screen on the printer. Printer base was fantastic for answering my emails and phone calls, really helped me to make my mind up of the right printer for me. I thank them for their first class service Thank you all. Doreen

Printerbase, very sensibly, phoned to check that I understood that I was buying a printer that is good for pics but slow to print and has no auto duplex. Picture printing is excellent and I like the large capacity ink tanks and the replicable ink absorber maintenance cartridge - I have had to bin earlier printers simple because the ink absorber was full.

So far I am pleased with the output resulting in clear and well defined colours on the pictures Set up was easy once I had fathomed out the WiFi link

Lisa at Printerbase solved my problem so easily. I had an old HP printer that was no longer supported and was only printing in black & blue !!! My Windows 8.1 seemed to have a limited number of printers available for it but she found a perfect solution. The Canon G650 does everything I require and has printer inks rather than expensive printer cartridges. So very happy all round.

This printer is everything I wanted. It was super easy to put the ink in (and surprisingly ASMR satisfying), and after running a quick test, everything just worked. It printed a picture on glossy photo paper with no problem, I was REALLY pleased with the colors on the result, and it's easy enough to change the kind of paper back and forth, for best results for whatever I'm printing. It connected to my wireless with no issues, and while I haven't actually tried to send a print job from my phone, I'm fairly confident that it would work, it was certainly easy to send from my computer. It fits in the space I had for it, and it scans easily and as well as can be expected. It's shocking that they don't put a better scanner in something that's this good for printing pictures, but I knew that going in, and as a combination machine, it's really great, especially at the price. Printerbase were also lovely to deal with, they contacted me after I ordered to make sure I knew what I was getting, and then again to tell me that it had shipped, it was the most human contact I've had with a company is years! Can't overstate how nice that was.

The G650 is very easy to set up using WiFi with Windows and also Ubuntu Linux. The Android app is good. Very straightforward to load the inks. Gloss photo paper gives superb prints. The small LCD is a bit difficult to see easily and having to scroll through menus is not great, but most things that matter can be done remotely. I love it!

Price was OK considering it included full sized refills for the bulk tanks. If the ink refills last as long as advertised, should be economical to run. Photo image quality is good, although printing a bit slow. Build quality is no where near as good as my previous Canon printer. Very noisy and clunky. Digital display is poor, very difficult to read. Buttons also not great quality. I am sure Canon could do better.

I am absolutely delighted with this printer. Having always used Canon Pixma inkjet printers with cartridges, I was unsure about trying a megatank printer, because I need good photo quality prints. I am not disappointed with this 6 tank printer. I actually much prefer the results with this printer which has a red ink, compared to my last inkjet which had a photo blue cartridge. Easy to set up and use. The screen could be bigger, but isn't a problem. I read that it was slow but I don't find it to be any slower than the Canon TS8350 and speed isn't an issue for me. I'd rather have top quality prints. It's the 2nd time I've purchased from Printerbase and service again has been excellent. Time will tell on it's cost effectiveness, but I've already printed many A4 sheets and the tanks are still full. Highly recommend

I am pleased with the Canon G650. As it's a refillable Megatank, ink costs are no longer an issue. I can now afford quality ink at a cheap price. The results are good too. I'm not a professional photographer but I cannot tell the difference between a photo printed at the processing shop and one I have printed. It's ideal for home-use and printing photos upto A4 size look great. I've not used the scanner as I have an excellent dedicated scanner. It is not fast, in fact it's quite slow but as a dedicated photo printer, who cares? It will print documents obviously, but it's intended market is not an office printer. The LCD display is a joke - far too small, but this isn't really an issue. If you want a decent home photo printer and don't want to spend 600 quid plus, then this is the one. Service and after-sales from Printerbase is excellent.

Purchased this printer to replace a hp photo printer that lasted less than 2 years. Had a canon pixma printer before that lasted many years. The G650 quality beats the hp hands down. Very easy to set up. Having ink tanks is much better than cartridges. I can reccomend this printer for top quality photos and every day printing of documents. Great service from printerbase too.
