Canon PIXMA G550 A4 Colour Inkjet Printer

Very easy to set up and to use with Canon app on iPhone. Considering the cost of this printer the results of photo printing were spectacular and I’m now the go-to person in my family for those snaps you want to keep. This is a Which? Best Buy. Their review says it prints very slowly but I found the time to produce an A4 print was about half the time they claimed. It’s a printer only, no scanning or copying but for photos it’s fantastic.

I'm really pleased with the G550. It replaces a Canon TS8050 which has been amazingly reliable for 10 years. The G550 was easy to set up following Canon's excellent online step by step directions. The photo quality is really impressive with good colours and fine detail. Text printing is noticeably sharper than on the TS8050 though a bit lighter. It's easy to adjust settings to make it darker. Envelopes print nicely. I'm happy with the print speeds. Good to see that the ink absorber can be replaced cheaply on this model. My only complaint is the dismal LCD screen which was not designed for older eyes. Thankfully most settings can be done on the computer screen. Over the years print cartridges have cost a small fortune, even using compatibles, so I'm looking forward to lower running costs with the ink tank system. Well done Canon, but for others benefit, please make the LCD screen bigger and put a light in it.

Just what I needed for photo printing - rather slow but quality prints and megatank system is a bonus. Running costs substantially reduced.

I have been looking for a modestly priced printer that focuses its attention on producing the highest quality A4 prints. This printer is quiet but exceptionally slow but the end product is superb. Seem to be in short supply but very well worth waiting for..

Very pleased to have purchased. Delayed feedback until sorted problem with linking to our router. We are not technically sophisticated and would have appreciated more comprehensive but simple instructions. We initially connected to PC via ethernet and ran test print. Eventually realised that we had to uninstall the printer in order to set up on wi-fi. Found ink filling very easy but only time will tell how running costs compare.
