I recently purchased the DCP-L3550CDW and I am extremely disappointed with it in one major respect. It will not scan a full A4 document. Place an A4 sheet of paper, i.e. 297 x 210mm, on the flat bed glass (the same thing also happens when using the Automatic Document Feeder) and simply scan it. And what do you get? A scanned image that measures only 291 x 204mm! After several emails back and forth to Brother's support team, my query was eventually escalated to the technical team where I was advised that the perimeter 3mm on all four edges of an A4 document is 'unscannable'.
And if you check the Online User's Guide on page 54 - there it is! For an A4 sheet the perimeter 3mm on all four edges is unscannable. Unbelievable!
In my opinion therefore the scanner is not fit for purpose, and I am sure there must be some clause of the Consumer Rights Act 2015 that it contravenes in being described by Brother as being able to scan A4 maximum documents.
