Xerox Phaser 6500DN A4 Colour Laser Printer - DISCONTINUED

We purchased this printer to replace the 6140DN as it was cheaper than the the replacement parts needed. Its near identical appearance and operation made it a painless upgrade process. There is also the bonus of quicker operation and better duplex handling which is important when producing large print runs. Would be 5 stars but for the toner costs. I agree with other reviewers that the xerox toner is expensive, but we buy third party toners from a well known online auction site, which have never let us down.

This is the second zerox laser phaser printer that I have had and they have worked flawlessly - just plug them in and off they go. The printer is very reliable too with a lot of options to choose from in terms of paper and print quality. The run black option is good but I have rarely needed it as the printer uses its consumables quite evenly. Great bit of kit and I will be buying another.

I bought this to replace my ageing Phaser 6120. The printer is nice and quiet in comparison. The cartridges in the 6120 were on a revolving carrousel that threw toner powder around the inside of the printer and ultimately degraded print quality. This isn't the case with the 6500 so I'm looking forward to a long future of consistent, quality printing. The price here on printerbase.co.uk is fantastic and the printer arrived very quickly.

We have had one of these printer for just over 2 years. Its used daily but certainly not a great deal. Have had to replace it with another exactly the same model as the old one required a consumable which cost almost as much as buying a new printer, plus it would have taken a week to arrive from Belgium! Print quality very good but let down by bad Xerox after sales service (in Manilla!) and very expensive toners and parts. Great while it works but if it develops a fault only option is to buy a new one - a lot less stressful that trying to deal with call centre in Manilla, in a wind tunnel, on what sounds like a pre-war phone line.

I bought this to replace a HP Laserjet 2300D which I use occasionally for hard copy. So I haven't really tested it with heavy use. Colour documents and pictures print very nicely and the colour representation on pictures is impressive, even without selecting the higher quality print mode. Speed of start up and production of document is good. Documentation is ordinary as far as set up goes but sufficient to needs. Manual on CD seems fairly comprehensive. It would have been nice to have memory expansion via a standard DDR2 SODIMM rather than what appears to be a custom format.

amazing printer, small enough to sit, unobtrusively next to my computer at home, double sided is a breeze and the black running when you're out of colour is a very bright idea .. you get it, I like this one a lot. (purchased to replace 6150 that died after giving us many a year of pleasure)
