Customer Questions & Answers
Q: can I use this printer in conjunction with specialised dye sublimation paper to transfer prints using a heat press onto fabrics?
if not so I need to use a different type of transfer paper or inks?

A: Good afternoon,
Thank you for your email.
The Ricoh 7100DN is not actually a dye sublimation printer and uses a gel based ink that is similar in most respects to standard inkjet inks. I understand that it is possible to buy specialist dye-sub inks that will work in the Ricoh geljet models, but this is not their designed purpose and so it would be recommended to check with a dye sub ink supplier themselves as to its suitability prior to purchasing the machine.
A key point to make though, If you intend to use one of these for sublimation ink, you cannot install the supplied cartridges in the machine.
