Lexmark CS510de A4 Colour Laser Printer (4 Year Warranty) - DISCONTINUED

This is a followup to my earlier review "Rocky start but good now". So, after a while I ended up with spots (black and cyan) on my prints, fortunately I was able to just replace the photoconductor unit which resolved the problem and was cheaper than replacing the entire imaging kit (another good delivery from Printerbase). Recently it's started having a lot of paper jams, doesn't matter which tray it it's printing from or the paper being used. Overall not impressed by the robustness of this printer. I print a lot of copies of the same document and this printer is dire compared to the HP lasers I use at work. It pauses between each copy for what seems like ages - I would expect multiple copies of the same document to be held in the printer memory and produced very quickly but not so here. It gets nowhere near the 30ppm it's meant to be able to deliver. In summary while the initial deal was good on this printer it's had too many issues for me to recommend as a long term ownership proposition.

I purchased this printer in June 2014 and after printing about 1000 pages in Dec 2015 it stopped printing reporting an ominous print head failure message. Contacted Lexmark and their repair quote was well over the price of a new unit so I have had to junk it. It was a great printer before this happened. This is with low use and no change of consumables. So I am very disappointed.

I purchased the CS510dte model as there was a special offer on at the time. Delivery was swift, so swift it was delivered about 7am the day after I placed the order (I did ask for morning delivery IIRC)! Set-up was straightforward and software installation on both a Mac and a PC was straightforward, although for some reason I seem to have 2 registered printers on the PC. Initially had some issues with the duplex printing from the 550 sheet tray - first duplex page would jam every time but if a single sided page was printed first it was fine. Issue resolved itself on its own and has been fine since. Most printing includes a small red logo and seem to be burning through yellow toner faster than other colours. Print quality is what I expected from a colour laser although haven't tried photos.

I am now on my second machine ONLY because the first one ran out of Magenta Toner, and it was cheaper to buy an ENTIRE new printer than get a Magenta Toner? Just weird and really wasteful as I have a spare machine which works fine but won't print without Magenta toner in it. Not exactly great for the environment. After doing some searches on this printer Printerbase cane up with the best price and speed of delivery. The printer prints out colour documents quickly and I had no problems with the printer driver even with Windows 10 preview version

I have a Dell 3130 CN, which is good but expensive on cartridges. This Lexmark promises to be cheaper to run, the print quality is outstanding (even when printing colour photos), and it is fast,and has wireless and duplex as standard. Its also lighter, has a colour touch panel and set itself up from scratch within 5 minutes. It matched itself to my video card and screen, and checking by using the default settings showed that this matching really worked well. Its a great deal at this price of
