A decent printer but setup on a MAC OS X 10.9 (wired network connection) to get scanning and web services working was frustrating - YMMV. HP support didn't seem very familiar with MAC OS X. I still haven't managed to get OCR working. Eventually I determined the following to be necessary for printing and scanning: ensure the printer firmware is up to date and do not install the HP supplied drivers, but add the printer through OS X and allow it to find the necessary drivers (support videao on HP website). I haven't tried all the permutations but you may need to initially install the HP software to facilitate the firmware update, then use the HP uninstaller to remove it, then add the printer through MAC OS X
