I am looking for a printer that can print from my iPad, I have a HP desk jet 2540 at home, but I can't seem to get it to print from my iPad. Is the model MFP different. Only I can print from my laptop, but not from my iPad . TIA

Take a look at the HP OfficeJet Pro 5740 http://www.printerbase.co.uk/hp-officejet-5740-e-all-in-one-a4-colour-inkjet-multifunction-printer.html I can confirm you ca print direct from your iPad / iPhone as this machine has built in apple AirPrint features.
