Canon PIXMA iX6850 A3+ Colour Inkjet Printer

I bought this some years ago to print my A3 artwork. and then used it for everything else, it does not like printing my greeting cards, they are A5 and always need a little push to get the card through! But excellent for A3 work! But then I am only trying to print one at a time, so I don't encounter troubles there.

I have just received my new printer. I have yet to un-package and set it up, Im excited after reading all the glowing reviews on this product. The review is more focused on the great customer service I received from Lisa. I got a check in call after purchasing to make sure the product was the correct fit, and a follow up email with discounts for Ink. Also, a second call today to confirm the delivery window. She is very efficient and friendly. I will be back to review product once I'm set up :)

Bought this mostly as an office printer, as this is the office version without the additional grey ink cartridge (but does have an ethernet port). However, was really surprised how good the photos are. Vivid colours, yet lots of details in the shadows. No signs of banding or anything like that. Very quick too. Can confirm prints A3+ borderless (as one review said they couldn't get that to work). Really can't fault this printer and an amazing price.

Very pleased with this printer. It's reasonably fast, quiet, and renders very good colour and sharpness. Essentially it delivers the quality of A3 prints that I am happy with and it was not too expensive.

I’ve had one of these printers for many years produces excellent photos also does A3+ this is very useful if you want to print a large landscape from a roll of photo paper works very well I would always recommend this printer

Printerbase were excellent. See printer. Order printer. Printer delivered. And fast. Not the easiest to set up, especially over wi-fi. There's no LED or other display. So, be patient and allow time for the software to instal and don't assume that when the progress bar stops moving that something has gone wrong. Once set up it's easy to use. The printer (Canon PIXMA iX6850) is good - but not very good. It is a long way from photo realistic, as the printer software adds too much contrast and saturation, whilst adding warmth by decreasing blues (adding yellow) and increasing reds. I now have to over compensate using Photoshop. However, this is not available to the majority of users. Once I came across a standard alteration to any image, I have to say the results were much improved. Fast, quick drying and uniform. By my calculations the number of (A4) pages per colour cartridge is about half Canon's estimates. However, they don't state the type of images on which their figures are based. Paper pick-up and feed is very good and so far I have had no snags - from plain 90gsm to single sided A3+ gloss 250gsm. All went through fine with pleasing results. When not in use I close the paper feed cover and the paper output to keep out the dust and it looks like a nice black, shiny monolith. On the plus side... on a mac, Canon supply software which can be used with macos from 10.6 Snow Leopard right up to the Ventura. I use an old Macbook running 10.6.8 as a printer station. I also use the built-in wi-fi with other of my macs. Still, at least I can buy printer inks as required, without the need for a contract or having HP nosing around my printer network. Printerbase get 4.5 stars. Having owned the printer for a few weeks I'm going to give it 3.5+ stars.

I previously had another manufacturer's machine, and even though they invented the system, the Canon beats hands down!

Easy to use, very high quality printing. Excellent service and delivery from Printerbase. Note that it only comes with a mains lead, no usb lead.

An Outstanding Printer and gives a great performance in print quality on all different sizes of paper, cards and envelopes with no issues. Easy to set up and use with the Canon software on Windows 10. Overall Great machine, especially for the price! And I am very well pleased and happy with this purchase!

I am delighted with this printer so far. Very easy to install and connect to the WiFi and the quality of print is excellent.

Printer produce wonderful photos - really pleased . But - very complicated to set up and get working ( compared with my ordinary HP everyday printer . Box comes with lots of completely rubbish paper in many languages and a very thick booklet in multiple languages which has about two pages in English . It would be so much easier to have a very simple ste up guide in plain non technical English rather than having to download a set up guide which is hard to follow . Canon should be mindful of the environmental impact of enclosing so much unwanted and wasteful packaging and wasted paper in multiple languages. Even registering the printer to canon to get its guarantee wasn’t easy and required a phone call to Canon

As an artist I required a printer that matched the colour on my screen as accurately as reasonably possible, I read many reviews claiming this printer was super accurate and great etc. Spent literally 2 weeks full time printing and altering settings and paper types, bought a new 4k sRGB accurate monitor and calibrator to eliminate my monitor being the wrong colour. It is literally impossible to get this printer accurate, I've been through all the Canon ink included and bought a new XL set of inks to continue testing, also been through over 100 sheets of Canon paper (4 test prints on each sheet). All in all my efforts were useless, certain colours were way too saturated but to balance this meant making the whole image almost blue, so whilst that image now may print somewhat okay - anything else printed would be hideously off colour. I've spent days researching all of the Photoshop printing options and settings along with the printer driver itself (printing through photoshop with the printer on manual and no colour matching etc) The printer is good at printing images, it just doesn't print anywhere near close to the colours represented on a fully calibrated brand new 4k monitor (I'm talking bright blue prints instead of purple/black dogs on screen, not something subtle or the printer not matching the screens brightness etc) Great price from Printerbase although they didn't give me any tracking details/purchase invoice as stated they would - I had to contact them as I really didn't want to miss the delivery as it was quite urgent at the time. I received a written email with no apology after the item had been delivered with the tracking details which ofcourse by that time were useless so I could of easily missed the delivery which would of been a nightmare at the time. I've bought an additional printer now - the Canon Pro 100S second hand (like new - £50 off of FB Marketplace) which instantly printed all the colours accurately without altering anything. I understand this printer is more of a professional type but from the reviews I'd read on here about the PIXMA ix6850 being brilliant I would have never expected such an insane difference in colour accuracy - super disappointed and will now have to sell it second hand after working for free trying to get it printing accurately for 2 weeks, oh well it's all been a learning experience but I wouldn't recommend for anyone semi serious about the colours being even somewhat accurate. This is my third one of these printers. They have a life span of about 3 years . The print quality is excellent, it is easy to set up and use. It is a great A3 size printer. It will take up to 300gsm card with no problems. The paper is easy to load and the ink cartridges are easy to replace. It great for office and for full colour graphics and photo printing. It's my go to product when I need a new printer.

good printer for those looking to get into professional printing. i print illustrations as art prints and the quality seems good so far. not sure if it's just me but sometimes i have a bit of trouble navigating the printer settings although i'm sure that's down to the operating system i use (i use a mac instead of windows). printerbase team are really helpful and really great following up purchases and providing help where needed :)

Seems OK so far. It was a bit complicated to get set up, connecting to the wifi, but all seems sorted now. Prints excellently on photo paper, I haven't tried the A3 size yet. Had excellent support from Printerbase all through the purchase and aftercare.

First class customer service, easy set up and perfect prints, prompt delivery would use printerbase again.

Great service by printerbase, printer came as hoped well packaged and perfect. Brilliant printer, supports nice thick cardstocks and pulls through no problem. A3 size is effortless and the prints are exactly as my artwork is on screen.
