Lexmark Inc. have announced that several of their Lexmark printers have now received global certification from the Mopria Alliance for their simple wireless printing abilities from smartphones, tablets and other mobile devices.

The Mopria Alliance is a global non-profit membership organisation made up of various global technology companies, whose aim it is to simplify mobile printing right across the board for all users..

In the latest version of Google’s mobile Android operating system version 4.4, which is commonly known as KitKat, basic printing is supported.  However, using existing framework that is already in place, Mopria has worked to develop a print plug-in for this operating system,

In the near future, Mopria will be able to introduce a new version of the plug-in that will work seamlessly with all Mopria-certified devices, including the most recent Lexmark printers, providing users with NFC tap-to-print and PDF support.

According to the report, a wide range of Lexmark printers have received certification, including the Lexmark CS310 series, along with the MS410, the CS410 and the MX510, among many others.

Marty Canning, Lexmark executive vice president and president of Imaging Solutions and Services states, said: “‘Lexmark is committed to remaining in a leadership position in mobile technology and compatibility adoption.

“We are pleased to receive Mopria certification across 17 product families, representing more than 100 Lexmark printers.’”

Lexmark is an executive member of the Mopria Alliance.
