Windows 11 Compatible Printers

Windows 11 Compatible Printers Banner

Windows 11 was released on October 5, 2021. As with every operating system release or update, printer compatibility is always a worry. Although Windows 11 boasted new features and looked different from Windows 10, there were no big changes with regard to print drivers at all.

We did not expect anything to change regarding print drivers and compatibility for Windows 11 release, and that was the case.

Printerbase works very closely with all the major printer manufacturers.

Will My Printer Work With Windows 11 ?

Yes, your printer should work with no issues at all. According to Microsoft, Windows 11 is based on the solid foundations of Windows 10 software, so your current printer(s) should all work as normal.

Any compatibility issues will depend on your PC hardware rather than printer. If your current PC supports Windows 10 and meets the requirements for Windows 11, you have nothing to worry about.

Update 12/10/2021

Brother are reporting that some printers connected via USB may not work with Windows 11, read the full story at Bleeping Computer.

We would not recommend upgrading to Windows 11 if you have a Brother printer connected via USB.

Windows 11 Compatible Printer Driver News Updates

Currently, printer manufacturers have released any Windows 11 specific printer drivers or indicated there will be any significant changes. As always, we will keep this page updated so stay tuned…….

If they do, they’ll be available here:

My printer HP officejet pro 8600 plus is not on the HP list of printers compatible with Windows 11. It works fine with Windows 10 now. Should I download the upgrade to 11 anyway? Will my printer work? Thanks.

Adam Whitehead 30 November 2021 at 1:26 pm

HI Sherry.

We would knot recommend upgrading at the moment, as there are no Printer drivers – there would be no printer support for your OfficeJet Pro 8600.

Hope this helps

So what is the best option for printer purchase for a new computer with Windows 11?

Reply
Adam Whitehead 4 January 2022 at 10:32 am

Hi Lisa!

Currently, if possible we advise holding off on a Windows 11 upgrade until stability and Printer drivers are readily available. However, if you already have a Windows 11 Computer, our sales team are available to advise on a suitable printer.

Hope this helps

Hi Alan

Thank you for getting in touch. Unfortunately there are still teething issues getting some printers to print from Windows 11. For a work around, we recommend contacting Epson directly.

Hi Tanha

Thank you for your comment. Support for Windows 11 through this Printer is done by the HP Smart app, has this been updated and used for the latest software?

I have Windows 11 and an HP Office Jet Pro 8710 printer. The preferences will not allow me to choose any size other than Titled/Letter or A4. No other choices are available even in settings. Is there a work around for this issue?

Hi Bobbie

I’ve not seen this issue before, nor a workaround for it. Are you using the most up to date download of the HP Smart app for Windows 11?

I have recently bought a windows 11 laptop and now my Zebra GK420d label printer no longer works. I can install it using the installation software from the Zebra website and it is showing under installed printers, but when trying to print it shows and error and doesn’t print. Has anyone else experienced this and has got a solution to it? I use this printer on a daily basis to print postage labels and this is now making life very difficult 🙁 Thanks for any suggestions. Sophie

The Canon Pixma MG3620 is NOT compatible with Windows Home 11 for a wireless connection, or Canon’s instructions are useless. I tried the setup 3 times, and I was employed for over 2 decades as a tech support person. Something is seriously wrong with their instructions or their compatibility with Windows Home 11.

It should be an easy setup.

Maybe Windows 11 is too bleeding-edge and not ready for prime-time — or it’s Canon’s fault. Probably the latter, but I’m not sure.

Hi Brian

Thank you for getting in touch, I’m sorry to hear you’re having issues setting up your Canon MG3620.
Has this been tested with a USB connection to ensure functionality?

Can I also check the drivers have been downloaded? I’ve attached a link to the Canon US website for your drivers below.
https://www.usa.canon.com/support/p/pixma-mg3620

I hope this helps, but if there’s anything more I can assist with, please let me know.

I have recently bought a win11 laptop but it only recognises my Pixma MG5150 printer as a scanner, and Canon don’t list a Win11 driver for it. Will they get around to it or is it now scrap?

Reply
Adam Whitehead 4 October 2022 at 4:54 pm

Hi Chris

Thank you for getting in touch

I’ve just checked Canon’s drivers for your printer and there is no longer Driver support. It may be possible to attempt printing in “Compatibility” mode. To try this, right-click the Shortcut on your home page, select “Properties” and in the “Compatibility,” there may be an option to print via an older operating system.

However, if all other options fail, we do have an updated model Canon TS5351a. Please see the link below.

Hi Lance,

Thanks getting in touch.

I don’t think you need another printer. Just a few questions.

1. Do you have the correct and latest drivers for the printer and location ?
2. How are you connecting to the printer for the driver installation ?
3. Do you see a particular error message when trying to print ?

Hi Lyn

After checking the Compatibility guide from Canon, the Canon P240 printer is no longer supported by Windows. There are no available drivers for Windows 11.

However, we do have a Windows 11 compatible Canon PIXMA MFG2550s as an alternative.

Can I find an appropriate printer driver for the P1102w printer? Please advise, and give me step-by-step instructions, if available. Many thanks.

Hi Sue

Thank you for your question.
It sounds like the drivers have not been installed correctly, this is a common issue. The best course would be to attempt downloading again from Canons website. https://www.canon.co.uk/support/consumer_products/products/fax__multifunctionals/inkjet/pixma_mg_series/pixma_mg3650.html?type=drivers&language=en&os=windows%2011

I have a new HP Envy laptop running Windows 11 and cannot get it to connect to my old HP LaserJet 6p, which still runs fine when connected to a Windows 10 Lenovo machine. The Envy recognizes the printer but when I try to print a test page all that I get is an error message.

Thank you for your comment. Windows no longer create drivers for the LaserJet 6p, and the printer is no longer supported. We do have a range of Windows 10 and 11 printers available here https://www.printerbase.co.uk/printer-by-feature/windows10-printers.html
