The Canon PIXMA PRO-10s earned a strong reputation as one of the best A3+ photo printers thanks to its pigment-based inks and colour accuracy. However, Canon replaced this in 2020 with the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-300, which rebuilt and improved on what made the PIXMA PRO-10s special. But in 2025, Canon released the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310, a next-generation A3+ professional photo printer designed for photographers, artists and studios who demand superior print quality with exceptional consistency.
The PRO-310 evolves Canon’s Prosumer printer line with improved colours, faster processing, updated pigment inks, and enhanced media support, all while maintaining the reliability faster than expected from Canon’s professional photo printers.

What Has Changed From the Canon PIXMA PRO-10s to the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310
The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310 marks a major leap forward from the Canon PIXMA PRO-10s. Rather than being a minor refresh, the PRO-310 brings improvements in print quality, workflow efficiency and media handling that makes it a true next-generation A3+ professional photo printer.
4.3″ Intuitive Touchscreen
The Canon PIXMA PRO-10s relied on pulsing lights for error notifications, which could be slow and confusing to interpret. The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310 replaces this with a bright 4.3″ colour touchscreen, offering clear status messages, guided maintenance steps and direct access to important settings. This results in a far smoother setup, troubleshooting and standalone operating experience.
Next Generation Lucia PRO II Pigment Inks
The PRO-310 uses 10 of Canon’s newest Lucia PRO II pigment-based inks, which offer:
- A wider colour gamut for richer, more accurate tones
- Deeper blacks on both matte and glossy paper
- Improved scratch resistance
- Longer archival lifespan of up to 200 years, compared to the PRO-10s pigment inks which lasted up to 60.
These updated inks are especially helpful for fine art and photo prints, where shadow detail, colour consistency and long term print stability are essential.
Improved Media Handling and Borderless Capabilities
Borderless and panoramic printing saw a noticeable upgrade in the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310, this new printer supports:
- A wider support of paper types supporting borderless printing
- Panoramic printing up to 1,800mm in length
- Improved skew correction
- More stable feeding of thick and textured fine art paper
This makes the PRO-310 much more versatile for artists and photographers printing on a variety of paper types.
Faster and More Flexible Connectivity
Compared to the PRO-10s more limited connectivity options, the PRO-310 offers:
- Faster dual-band WiFi
- WiFi PictBridge for wireless camera-to-printer transfers
- Network (Ethernet) for fixed-desk setups
- More support for the Canon PRINT and other mobile apps.
These small upgrades help to simplify setup and greatly improve workflow, whether that’s from Camera or mobile to desktop.
Enhanced Professional Print and Layout Software
The Canon PIXMA PRO-10s used earlier Canon software, the Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310 is fully supported by the latest Canon Professional Print & Layout (PPL) software.
PPL is a free download available as standalone software, or a plug-in which is installed to compatible photo applications, such as Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom as well as Canon’s own Canon Digital Photo Professional software. Professional Print & Layout includes benefits such as:
- More accurate soft-proofing
- Better colour-matching and ICC profile support
- Improved black-and-white print control
- Clearer templates and layout tools
