Dell are the new kings of cool thanks to their excellent 5230dn mono laser printer. Dell’s quoted print speed of 43ppm is no sweat according to PC Pro, since in their tests the machine managed a remarkable 44ppm using the 2400IQ print resolution setting! As with most printers, selecting the top resolution (1200dpi resolution setting) does bring the print speed down but PC Pro felt that the print quality in the 2400IQ was clean and sharp so didn’t see a reason to use the higher resolution setting.
The good news doesn’t end there. They liked how the Dell 5230dn Mono Laser Printer accepted an extra three 550-sheet drawers, an envelope feeder and a 2,000-sheet feeder. If you purchase the Dell 5230dn, PC Pro does advise that users opt for the 21,000 page toner cartridge to get the very best running cost. This goes without saying but they do point out that the lower yield toners are particularly expensive per page.
PC Pro also pointed out that other accessories are available and the level of advanced security available makes this machine suitable for even the most demanding user. In fact, they tell us that the Dell 5230dn is their “new favourite network laser printer”.
