How Brother is Making Labelling Tapes Your Eco Friendly Choice banner

Being environmentally conscious is now more important than ever. This means people and businesses are looking for ways to reduce waste and make responsible choices to better the planet. Brother has been making eco-friendly changes to its labelling solutions without compromising on the high quality they’re known for.

From using recycled materials to creating linerless and reduced-waste tapes, Brother is committed to making labelling more sustainable. In this blog, we’ll explore how Brother is taking action to ensure it’s labelling tapes, including the TZe, DK and linerless options, are the most eco-friendly labelling options.

This post will constantly be updated to add any new changes that Brother introduce.

Update - Brother Changes TZ Tapes to TZe - 2011

Brother first introduced TZe labelling tapes (where the “e” stands for Eco-Friendly) in 2011. Since then, these tapes have offered a more sustainable alternative to the original TZ tapes while keeping the same functionality and usability. By reducing plastic in both the packaging and cassette design, Brother has managed to cut plastic weight per cartridge by approximately 15% and ensures each cassette contains at least 5% recycled material.

  • TZe tapes offer up to 10% increased adhesion strength
  • Higher durability helps them withstand bumps and drops
  • Improved laminate alignment enhances performance

TZ/TZe tapes come in a variety of sizes, shapes and finishes to suit different needs. If you’d like to learn more about the Different Types of Brother TZ Tapes, check out our blog post.

Update - Brother TZe Packaging Has Been Redesigned - 2019

Brother’s commitment to sustainability doesn’t stop at making tapes eco-friendly. In fact, in 2019, they took another major step by switching from plastic to cardboard packaging. Because of this, their packaging is now more eco-friendly and recyclable, reducing waste and conserving resources. Now, all Brother TZe tape packaging is fully recyclable, so it’s easier to make a greener choice.

Packaging Made With FSC Certified Paper

The new Brother TZe tape packaging is made from Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper, sourced from responsibly managed forests. This means that biodiversity is preserved, Indigenous communities’ rights are protected, and the long-term health of forests and their ecosystems is safeguarded.
