Carbon Neutral Printing with Kyocera

Printing isn’t the first thing that comes to mind when we think about being carbon neutral. But what if it changed?

Kyocera is on a mission to prove that printing doesn’t need to cost the earth.
From compact home printers to office-wide multifunction printers, Kyocera has made every device in its range carbon neutral. That’s huge news for businesses seeking to reduce their carbon footprint without compromising productivity.

Kyoceras Carbon Neutral Initiative

Many printer manufacturers offer some sort of carbon neutrality, whether it’s in their devices or by using carbon offset programs. Kyocera are a great example of this by partnering with myclimate to reduce their unavoidable emissions and ensure that every printer released after 2024 meets carbon-neutral standards. Older models can also meet the same standards by adding a simple bolt-on.

What Is Carbon Neutral Printing?

Carbon neutral printing consists of two things:

1. Reducing emissions – by using energy-efficient printers, adjusting print settings, recycling used consumables and old printers, and creating with sustainable materials.

2. Offsetting unavoidable emissions – By investing in certified carbon offset projects, like reforestation or renewable energy. Offsetting carbon emissions can be a mixture

Kyocera Carbon Neutral: Printing With A Conscience

Kyocera has been quietly championing sustainability since the early 90s. With decades of innovation under their belt, they’re not just offsetting emissions – they’re designing smarter, greener machines from the ground up.

Now, Kyocera equips every printer and multifunction device (MFP) with a bolt-on option that offsets lifetime carbon emissions from the device and its consumables. This includes emissions from production, packaging, transport, and usage.

But Kyocera doesn’t stop there.

They’ve built a whole ecosystem around sustainability:

  • Eco toner that saves energy
  • Energy-efficient power modes
  • Long-life consumables that reduce waste
  • Packaging is designed to be recyclable
  • Less single-use plastic, more forward-thinking

How Do Kyocera Offset Carbon?

Kyocera offsets all emissions generated by their printers and consumables. Devices built from 2024 onward include this as standard, and earlier models can become carbon neutral with an optional bolt-on.

This offset covers emissions from production, packaging, shipping, usage, and recycling of Kyocera printers and genuine toners.

Kyocera calculates the total carbon impact for each device in their range, then invests in certified climate projects through myclimate.

These projects include:

  • Project Tanzania: Ensure that indigenous land rights are secured and community land use plans are implemented by establishing forest conservation activities
  • Project Burundi: Distribution of efficient cooking stoves for displaced people, reducing the amount of firewood used, which lowers CO2 emissions
  • Project Nigeria: Replacing inefficient cook stoves being used by the majority of the Nigerian population with much higher efficient cooking stoves. This is intended to reduce carbon emissions, improve health and lower deforestation

Backed by Action, Not Just Promises

Myclimate, a trusted partner, manages Kyocera’s carbon offsetting. This organisation supports high-impact, Gold Standard-certified climate projects. When you register your carbon-neutral device, you receive a certificate that proves your commitment. It’s fully auditable and traceable.

Since 2022, Kyocera has achieved full carbon neutrality across all UK operations. They reforest paper used internally and by customers who use the Kyocera carbon neutral bolt-on

Ready To Print Responsibly?

Whether you’re printing documents at home or running busy offices, switching to carbon neutral printing is a simple but powerful move. Kyocera’s carbon neutral devices are a great place to start, and we’re here to help you find the perfect printer for your needs.
