The 9 Best A3 Printers 2025

Best A3 Printers Banner

A3 printers are essential tools for anyone needing larger format printing, offering numerous benefits for both professional and personal use. Whether you need high-quality prints for presentations, graphic designs, or detailed architectural plans, choosing the right A3 printer can make all the difference. That’s why we’ve created our list of the best A3 printers in 2025, highlighting models that balance quality, efficiency and affordability

Why Choose An A3 Printer?

A3 printers provide the ability to print on larger paper sizes, up to 11.7 x 16.5 inches, making them a versatile addition for a wide range of professional and creative uses. Whether you’re producing marketing materials, technical plans, or detailed graphics, an A3 size printer offers a noticeable upgrade in flexibility, quality, and cost-effectiveness compared to standard A4 printers.

Enhanced Detail

Larger print sizes allow for much finer detail and better overall visual impact. Text remains crisp, diagrams are easier to read, and photographs retain more resolution and colour depth. This makes A3 printers particularly valuable for producing high-quality presentations, posters, CAD drawings, and portfolios where clarity and precision matter.

Versatility

A3 printers are suitable for a wide range of industries and applications. Graphic designers can create full-sized marketing materials and mockups, while architects and engineers benefit from the ability to print technical plans and drawings accurately. Educational institutions can produce impactful teaching materials, and small businesses can create professional signage, brochures, and display pieces in-house.

Cost-Effective

Investing in an A3 printer can significantly reduce the need to outsource larger printing jobs, saving time and money in the long term. Instead of paying premium rates for poster and plan printing, businesses and individuals can manage their own production, maintaining full control over quality, branding, and deadlines.

How To Choose An A3 Printer?

When selecting an A3 printer, consider the following:

Print Quality

Look for high resolution and colour accuracy, especially when printing photos and graphics. A higher print resolution, such as 4800 x 1200 dpi or above, ensures sharp detail and smooth colour gradients, which are important for professional documents and creative projects. If you plan to print photographs, posters, or presentation materials, printers with additional colour cartridges can deliver more vivid and lifelike results.

Speed & Efficiency

Important for high-volume tasks and last-minute prints. If you expect to print in larger batches or work to tight deadlines, check the printer’s rated pages per minute (ppm) for both mono and colour printing. Features like high-capacity trays, automatic duplex printing, and fast first-page-out times help improve productivity and minimise interruptions during busy periods.

Cost of Ownership

Remember the initial costs and running costs, more inks can mean higher running costs. Inkjets often have a lower purchase price but may become costly over time if ink consumption is high. Compared to cartridge-based printers, EcoTank and refillable tank models can cut printing costs by up to 90%, offering a much lower cost per page in the long term.

Connectivity Options

All printers include USB connectivity, but wireless printing enables convenient printing from smartphones, tablets, and laptops without needing direct connections, which is useful for shared office spaces or home environments. Network-capable printers are ideal for offices where multiple users need to access the printer securely over a wired connection.

Additional Features

Don’t forget duplex printing/scanning, borderless print, mobile print, and the size of the documents you will be scanning. Duplex functionality can save time and reduce paper usage, while borderless printing is essential for producing professional-looking photos and posters. Also, consider whether you need A3 scanning capability, as not all A3 printers can scan larger formats.

The Canon imagePROGRAF PRO-310 sets a new benchmark for A3+ photo printing, offering stunning professional-quality output that’s rich, vibrant, and deeply nuanced. With its nine individual pigment inks and a Chroma Optimizer, this printer ensures smooth gradations, outstanding tonal control, and exceptional black density—perfect for fine art, exhibitions, and professional portfolios.

Designed for serious creators, the PRO-310 also accommodates a wide range of media types up to 380gsm, including textured fine art papers, glossy photo paper, and even long-format banners up to 990mm. Despite its powerful internals, it remains relatively compact compared to other professional photo printers, fitting easily into a small studio or home office.

On the downside, the PRO-310 isn’t built for speed. Its primary focus is quality over quantity, so users needing quick bulk prints might find it slower than general office models. It also comes with a higher upfront price. However, if you’re focused on professional imaging, it’s arguably the best A3 printer for art prints currently available.

Canon printers a joke – great at first but around two years in the bin. i.e. the dreaded SUPPORT CODE 6A81 not a paper blockages inaccessible ink under head area. 3 cannons changing to Epsom hope to have better luck

Adam, my Epson printer just stopped working and I’m annoyed. I’ll have to throw it out. The ink ran out…and there are no more of Epson’s expensive cartridges anywhere. But I guess after 17 years I shouldn’t complain…blasted planned obsolescence. (Epson R390 Photo)
