Where can I get my printer repaired?

Accidents happen, and unfortunately, like any other electronic device, printers don’t last forever. The good news is, if something happens to your printer, the chances are, there is something that can be done to fit it. Whether it involves replacing and fitting a certain part or whatever else the issue may be, most printer repairs are fairly simple. In this news post, I’m going to share with you all the information you need on where you can go if your printer is broken and needs fixing.

Still under warranty?

If your machine is still under manufacturer warranty, then you’re in luck. Providing that the terms and conditions of the warranty haven’t been breached in any way, being within warranty means you can contact the manufacturer of your machine directly for technical advice and support, or to get the device repaired. The manufacturer of your machine will ask you for details on what is wrong with the machine, and depending on what the issue is, they will either advise how you can fix the issue from home, replace the machine or arrange for it to be repaired.

Warranty expired?

If on the other hand your warranty has expired, don’t worry, there are still things that you can do to fix the problem. So, whilst you won’t qualify for a free repair or a brand-new machine, you are still more than welcome to contact the manufacturer, who can often supply a quote for repair. Alternatively, the manufacturer may recommend a local service agent to you. Either way, the manufacturer will offer you honest advice irrespective of the fact that your warranty has expired. You will always have that support.

Third party printer repair specialists

Depending on how you wish to approach the issue, you can also contact a third-party repair company who will happily look over your machine to determine whether or not they can fix it. If you choose to go down this route, your best bet would be to carry out an online search for local printer repair centres. When you call them, simply enquire as to whether or not they service your brand/type of device.

Hi Norman, thanks for getting in touch.

If you take a look at the error page on the following manual you should hopefully be able to identify exactly what the problem is – https://bit.ly/2HGk8Sz

Hi, my Kodak ESP C110 all in one printer is not printing black ink correctly. How can I fix this? Repair shops say they don’t do all in ones.

Hi Amy,

It sounds as though the issue is with the printhead on the machine, the only advice we can really recommend is to consult the user guide for your machine on how to run a head clean. Unfortunately, due to the age of the machine and the fact that Kodak no longer produce printers, you would struggle to find any support in terms of repair I am afraid. If the head will not clean, then you would have to consider a replacement in this instance.

Many thanks

Epson xp 760 expression photo will no longer pick up A4 paper – 22 months old

Hi Robin

It sounds like this could be a problem with the pickup rollers. We would recommend that you try to give them a clean with a lint free cloth to remover any dust. If this does not help, then it would appear there is a mechanical issue with the printer. Our best suggestion at this point would be to contact Epson support on 0343 903 7766. If your machine is in not in warranty, then they should at least be able to advise of a cost for repair.

I hope this helps – apologies for the delay in responding to your question.

Hi Mark,

Hi I own a Canon MG6800 series but when I try to print from my laptop phone or tablet it does not print the black tex but if I do a photo copy or black text then it’s perfect any ideas !!

Hi Anita,

I would suspect that the issue is with the black print head/cartridge on the machine and that when you copy it is in fact creating a composite black using the colours. However, there is a sure fire way to check if there is a head problem and that is to generate a nozzle check pattern on the machine itself. Instructions are on page 198 of the guide here.

Hope this helps

Hey Annette!

I’m sorry to hear there’s an issue with your Epson Printer. It could be one of a few issues ranging from the cartridge to a fault in the print settings. I would recommend getting in touch directly with Epson though. Follow the link below to their support page

I have a 2 year old, out of warranty Epson ET-2750 Eco-tank printer. It has a mechanical (not software) problem

the control panel flap will not stay put where i place it, but constantly drops down to the vertical

.I.E the .hinge’ system has lost it’s friction.

The only response i get from the Epson, advice centre is, ‘Take it to a repairer

is there a simple repair to this problem, that i could easily do at home ?

Hi Pete

Thank you for your question.
However, Epson would be offering the best advice there a repair centre would be the best option. They would be able to provide a recommended service center too

Hope this helps

I have a Canon Inkjet Printer MG 4250 which has an error message saying “Ink Absorption Unit Nearly Full call engineer for a repair This apparently must be done by an engineer. How much is it likely to cost and where would have to go to have it done. I live in Deeside near Chester Dave.

Reply
Adam Whitehead 4 October 2022 at 4:52 pm

Hi Dave

Thank you for your question.

The Ink Absorption Unit can only be replaced by Canon engineers. After looking in the User Guide it is not recommended to attempt this at home.

They can be contacted on 0207 660 0186 for assistance on this issue.

Hope this helps

My Brother LC-970 stopped working last night the message is saying Troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in User’s Guide. I have not got a user’s guide. any ideas?

Emmanuel Myers 31 August 2022 at 10:20 pm

Hi,

Thanks for getting in touch.

Brother LC970 maybe your Ink Cartridge part number. Your printer model number will be just above the LCD screen on the printer.

The solution to the “Troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in User’s Guide” error message will differ depending on the printer model.

Please check and provide your printer model we’ll provide a link to the user’s guide.

I hope this helps

Thanks
