Xerox Solid Ink technology...
It’s time to rethink your ink.
The technology behind Xerox Solid Ink was first developed in 1986, with the product hitting the market in 1991. From there on, continuous development has since seen Xerox Solid Ink become a genuine opportunity for you to drastically reduce the costs of printing, as well as your carbon footprint, through replacing toner and inkjet cartridge printers.
Rethink your ink with Xerox Solid Ink

What is Solid Ink?
What is Xerox Solid Ink?
Xerox Solid Ink is an innovative, proven and sustainable form of colour print technology offered only by Xerox. Similar to a wax crayon, small solid blocks of non–toxic, no–mess ink are used, as opposed to traditional toner and inkjet cartridges. Xerox Solid Ink printers and multifunction printers provide an easy–to–use, cost–effective alternative that doesn’t compromise on print quality, or cause excessive harm to the environment.

Reason for your enquiry?

Why should you make the switch?
It’s reliable.
Having been on the market for over 20 years, Xerox Solid Ink has proven to be consistent and durable. Unlike other printer technologies, the majority of the components in a Xerox Solid Ink Printer are designed to last for the life of the actual product. In fact, the only part that will ever have to be replaced in the Maintenance Roller – and even that lasts for tens of thousands of pages!
"Excellent. We are a fast growing small business, just taken delivery of our third colorqube, say no more!" - Duncan, London

Save money with Solid Ink
It’s cheaper to run.
With less consumables to replace, Xerox Solid Ink printers have much lower running cost when compared with colour laser printers. There is a potential to save up to 70% on your costs should you print a lot of colour pages, for example.
"...excellent print quality yet the ink is much cheaper than toner printers without any wastage. If you need a heavy use printer then this is the only option." - Peter

You get high–quality prints.
The Xerox Solid Ink printing process uses the utmost precision to mechanically transfer the images or text onto paper of any quality, including recycled. Unlike inkjet printer cartridges, you don’t need smooth, super–white paper to ensure the highest quality – the same vivid, strikingly clear prints are always produced with an ink–to–page transfer of almost 100%.
"Print quality is excellent, which, as a graphic design company, is as important as cost of consumables..." - Peter Bowes, Cheshire

Popular misconceptions about Xerox Solid Ink

Is it as good as laser or inkjet printing?
Independent research organisations, including BERTL, Buyers Laboratory Inc. and Industry Analysts Inc. have all put Solid Ink through rigorous tests and given it many accolades.

Can you write on Xerox Solid Ink?
For simple text documents, you can easily write on the paper. However, much like other printing technologies, certain pens may not write smoothly on pages with high colour coverage.

Is Xerox Solid Ink durable?
Xerox still holds original prints from the first Solid Ink printer in 1991 – they were not stored in any special way and still look identical to prints made today.

Does Xerox Solid Ink melt?
Solid Ink’s melting temperature is close to the boiling point of water - 99.98 °C – so expect the ink to stay on the page!

Does Xerox Solid Ink clog printer heads?
All Solid Ink machines have in-built smart technology, which automatically makes other print heads compensate, so your print is never affected. No service call is needed, either – the clogged print head will fix itself through calibration. Simple.

Does Xerox Solid Ink stick to glass when being copied?
Xerox Solid Ink prints can be fed through any document feeder on the market and have no chance of sticking while copying.
