Since laser printers became available to the majority of consumers, they have been seen as the way to go if you want to add speed and professionalism to your print setup. However, that has since changed - and HP are one of the manufacturers that believe inkjet printers are the future.
The incredible - and continued - development of technology within the print industry has seen HP inkjet printers grow in popularity, not just with home users, but businesses, too.
There's plenty of advantages to using HP inkjet printers - with the main one often being the reduced prints costs. However, the huge shift in terms of how HP inkjet printers are perceived has recently come about through their increased capabilities.
Nowadays, it is not uncommon to see HP inkjet printers that can quite easily stand up to their laser cousins in terms of performance. Print speeds have improved and a variety of features that were only associated with high-end lasers are now replicated on inkjet printers.
This all means that you can get cost-effective HP inkjet printers that deliver the qualities you would want from a laser. So, with that in mind, it's no surprise to see the likes of HP describe their inkjet printers as "like electric cars" and "the future".
Nick Lazaridis, Senior Vice President, Printing & Personal Systems at HP, discussed the future of HP inkjet printers at the printer manufacturer's annual Global Partner Conference in Las Vegas:
"In these years, laser technology has led the market since it was the best technology available. But we have tried not to sell printers the traditional way and are trying to make customers experience better through solutions wheich are affordable and best for them. In order to do this, we are leveraging the inkjet technology to deliver better solutions to customers, since our inkjet printers are at par with laser printers, if not better, in terms of performace and quality.
"Our HP OfficeJet printer range is helping customers take the advantage of inkjet technology that delivers prints at much affordable prices than lasers can. Our inkjet printers can offer speeds of up to 72 pages per minute at half the cost and that too, with same quality. So the laser technology which we led the market for about twenty five years is getting tough competition from inkjet. Since it is an affordable option, we are helping customers to own solutions that can reduce cost for the laser quality.
"The growth in technology seems to stagnate a little but we continue to focus on laser. Inkjet is like electric cars which are the future. It will take sometime for customers to adopt. But this is the future."
One of the HP inkjet printers that is part of "the future" is the HP OfficeJet Pro 276dw Colour Inkjet Printer, which offers print, copy, scan and fax, mobile printing capabilities and cost-effective prints, as well as a wide range of print features.
Or, if you're looking for something with a bit more speed for the office, then the go-to device should be the HP OfficeJet Pro X576dw Inkjet Multifunction Printer, which packs truly impressive speeds of 70 pages per minute - a Guinness World Record, no less!
