Hi

We should hopefully have our demo machine installed later this month. Once this happens our product pages will have a print sample request button added.

If you need print samples in the meantime, please call our sales team on 0800 170 7234 or 0161 308 5800 and we'll try and arrange them through Epson.

Regards

Hi I have a ASUS windows 7 and cant connect it to my DELL PHOTO A10 944 printer can anyone help please

Thanks

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Sara

Unfortunately, I've checked on Dell's website and their drivers do not appear to mention Windows 7. This is a 6 year old machine so it's doubtful that Dell are selling enough consumables to warrant the work necessary to write a new driver. I would recommend trying the last driver Dell wrote for this machine. If this fails to work you may have no choice but to purchase a new inkjet.

Dell Photo AIO 944 drivers: click here

Comparible inkjets with Windows 7 Support: click here

I have just bought a Ricoh Aficio gx e 3300n printer, and a hp windows 7 pc. Only to find that they are not compatable. I have asked for proper installation discs,or for a refund on the printer. What do you think I should do next?

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi George, thanks for getting in touch with Printerbase. If you're still waiting for this to be resolved I can only assume that you didn't purchase this from us (not to worry because we can supply your ongoing inks). Whenever we sell machines we always recommend that the user downloads the latest driver from the manufacturer website because the included installation discs won't necessarily be up-to-date. Here is the link to take you directly to the drivers you need: click here

On the Kodak Hero 6.1 and i guess other models has the duplex scan to print 10% reduction in image problem been sorted yet?
I understand the Duplex print is sorted by un ticking a box. This current situation reported in reviews is stopping me purchasing the kodak 6.1

Well looks to me like I'm not the only one with printer problems once Windows 7 was installed on my PC. Seems to me alot of us are having to go out and get new printers which may or may not work in the Windows 7 environment. Pretty sad that we have to do this and Microsoft and printer manufacturers should have ensured each printer type would work once Win 7 either 32 bit or 64 bit was installed. So, even though Win7 was pumped up to be so fantastic they left out some major details. Like your existing hardware. I wrote Microsoft and asked first if my printer would be compatible with the installation of Win 7 and was told yes. But after 3 months I still can't even turn my Lexmark Prestige Pro805 printer on, how's that? Forget trying to get support, I have tried and to no avail. In todays economy consumers shouldn't have to go out and purchase new printers that probably won't work either, someone dropped the ball on this one. I'd be ashamed to have done this to consumers. Maybe Microsoft and printer vendors should supply consumers with new printers that are compatible with Win 7. LOL

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Paula, thanks for getting in touch with Printerbase. I can confirm that the Pro805 does fully support both Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems. We've sold lots of these machines and haven't had any reports of incompatibility issues so I would recommend trying the latest driver, available here: click here.
We've tested several of Lexmark's new inkjet range on various versions on Windows (including 7) and haven't experienced any issues so if you bought the machine from us and are still struggling with it, please give our customer services department a call on 0161 308 5800.

Thinking of buying the Lexmark C540N - but can the single-feed tray cope with 240gm card?

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Allan,

The Lexmark C54x range will only accept card up to 176gsm.

If you want an A4 machine to print on card, I'd recommend the OKI C711 machine. It will print up to 250gsm and even double-side print 220gsm!!!

Please give us a call to discuss your options in further detail - 0161 308 5800.

Dear Printerbase
Your article on AirPrint says there is no samsung supplied app to enable AirPrint
Are you able to recommend a app that will allow me to AirPrint to either of my samsung printers, please?

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi, Unfortunately to date Samsung do not natively support AirPrint. There are a multitude of apps available for download from Apple's App Store: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/print-print-to-all-printers/id299423224?mt=8. They may cost you a few pounds to purchase and you may be required to read other customer experiences beforehand but I'm sure you'll get there in the end. I wouldn't like to recommend one because there are simply too many to choose from and I'm sure many of them will work perfectly.

I can report that here in our North West call centre we're getting the first signs of light snowfall! It looks like the weather reports were correct.

Please get your orders placed as soon as possible before the snow starts to cause even more disruption across the UK!

I'm ### off. I've got a decent new computer so I opted for 64 bit windows 7. Then a few months later thought my canon mp8oo was cream crackered, buts its not. It's just that its not compatible with the 64 bit part. Most of it is ok but it wont scan which is the main reason I bought it for. Now I've got to hunt for a compatible one!

P.S. Iwent onto Canon to no avail. The only problem there may be is one of the downloadswas MP navigator M6C19MUx.exeit asks me to press the unzip button. 44 files are unzipped but then it does not ask me to do anytning else with them. The options are: unzip, Run WinZip, close, about and Help. Could this be the problem with my scanner in the message above?

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Richard, Have you tried the official Canon driver found here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp800#DriversAndSoftware

It looks like the driver you need is: mpnmp800win202ea13.exe

I have tried running this file and once downloaded it appears to auto extract and then run the installation procedure automatically.

Unfortunately, if Canon's drivers don't work you need to target your anger at Canon or the retailer that told you it would work in Windows 7 64-bit. Microsoft (and Apple) continually bring out new operating systems and it's not always possible to make old drivers work. It's therefore up to the printer/MFP manufacturers to make sure their drivers are updated whenever possible (usually new and recently discontinued machines have new drivers written).

Please let me know when I can print from ipad to a Brother MFC-6490CW

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Grahame, Unfortunately Brother's current machines are not natively compatible with AirPrint. However, you can install any printer or multifunction device on a PC or Mac and share the printing features over your WiFi network.

The good news:
Brother have their own Print&Scan Apple App, which you can download here:
http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/brother-iprint-scan/id382775642

HP is not being straightforward. They've got a driver and software on their website for my Photosmart 2575 that they say is compatible with windows7. I've now tried downloading and installing it 3 times. And got a fatal error message each time during the software installation process! I followed HP's instructions letter by letter! I also used all their troubleshooting suggestions, letter by letter! I went to microsoft and found more troubleshooting instructions and tried them, letter by letter. And still could not install the software my printer needs.

In a nutshell, despite what HP says, their driver and software for my photosmart is not compatible with windows7!

I think the only solution is to buy a new printer but it will not be an HP! And I do not recommend HP to anyone else!

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Polly, I'm sorry to hear that the software is not working. I personally use a HP F380 inkjet at home on Windows 7 (64-bit) but found that Windows installed the printer without having to download the drivers from HP. After seeing this post I uninstalled the printer and tried the official PhotoSmart drivers from the HP website and they work perfectly for me with my F380. I have read posts from other users saying they are able to get the PhotoSmart 2575 to printer on Windows 7 (64-bit) but not scan. Are you using 64-bit Windows 7 and have you managed to print?

Hi People.
Just read most of the notes here. I bought a new computer and had to buy a new Printer as well, Sooooo the printer I bought was a Lexmark x5650 and it works great. I'm just as p o about it too But I thought you all would like to know what works.

Hey guys it’s a all in one Printer. + fax

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Robin, Thanks for your post. All the current printers on our website are fully compatible with Windows 7. The problem with new operating systems (Windows/Mac/Linux, etc) is that they don't always accept the original printer drivers written by the printer manufacturer. This is the same story with other pieces of hardware so before upgrading your OS please make sure that your existing kit has compatible drivers or you will be forced to replace it.

Help! Good to know I'm not a complete idiot. From what I've read here compatibility problems are rampant with Windows 7 and many printers. Spent too much time trying to download available drivers with no good result. Wasted time with aggravating techs. Now will have to find a new printer scanner copier fax machine. Anybody have suggestion of a machine that will be compatible to a Dell Studio 15 Notebook (Studio 1550)?
Or the correct and proven downloadable driver for the HP Officejet 6500 series E709a. I've tried OJ6500vE709_Basic_13(3)exe but it (on several attempts) sends message that my operating system is not supported.
This has gone on for months, so it's not that I'm impatient!!!

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi, firstly you need to check whether you are running Windows 7 32bit or 64bit. Simply right click on My Computer and select Properties. The window that pops up will tell you what version is installed.

I have checked on HP's website and they now have a more up-to-date driver available (version 14 rather than 13):
For Windows 7 32bit:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4062&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=3795314#N185
For Windows 7 64bit:

Dear All,

I have problem with my new Philips MDF 6080 multifunctional device...fax, scanner, printer... I have few computers and all of the are running on the x64 windows 7 premium. I need driver for this device. Can somebody support me?
Thank you in advance

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi, we currently don't supply Philips products but looking at their website it appears that they will support printing only in Windows 7 64-bit. The problem with their website is it doesn't appear that they have a download area for getting hold of the latest drivers!
I would suggest calling Philips Support directly on 0845 090 0315 and ask them to send them over to you. Please let us know how you get on.

We have a fairly old but fully functioning Minolta Magicolor 2200 Desklaser printer.
After checking for drivers etc the Minolta 2200 shows up in the supported drivers for in Windows 7, wrong!!! The driver is incompatible grrrr
Konica Minolta were most surprised the the printer was still working! and that support for the printer finished with XP. Tough luck was the attitude.
Microsoft support were next to useless, "Saying it was just one of those things" and they really were not responsible for third party drivers.

So my question is "Why do manufacturers refuse to properly support their products?"

The bottom line is that when we replace the printer it will not be a Konica Minolta

Response from Peter Knight – Printerbase Ltd
Mark,
Have you tried one of the Konica magicolor 4650 drivers that ships with Windows or one the HP Color LaserJet PCL or PS drivers ?
We have found it the past that sometimes using a newer driver can still work with an older printer but only if the printer supports PCL or PostScript emulations which from memory I think the magicolor 2200 does.

My fairly new 6 month old Lexmark X6675 all-in-one continues to work perfectly with both my Vista notebook and my XP netbook but is not compatable with my new Windows 7 notebook, despite Windows own compatibility site that lists this combo printer with a nice big green check mark indicating is is compatible with Win 7. Wrong.

Unfortunately, it is false info for future customers who will do their homework on "compatibility" sites only to find that the the site's information can be wrong on different models of even the same manufacturer, and customers sadly will instead buy another printer that will not work any better than the one they already own. "Oh hey! One of our 23 printers is Win 7 compatible, so we'll just save time & mark all them with green compatibility check marks!"

Another FYI ~ I found a supposed MS download to add the driver for my combo printer to my new notebook, but all I actually got was just an icon indicating the printer device in my devices folder. However, once installed it had no real functionality behind it. Just the pretty little icon sitting in the folder. MS also offers an additional download of NET.Framework 2.0 as a fix, however at the end of that download it then states that the Framework 2.0 is not configured beyond Vista or XP, and is NOT compatible for 64 bit!!!!

Now EVERY time I power up the pc I am immediately stuck looking at an error pop up that continues to try installing the 2.0 over & over again. I can not make it stop or delete it from repeatedly trying to install that 2.0 ~ even though it can not possibly work anyway!!!

And, in shutting down the pc, it indicates there is still a 2.0 install task always running at close of the pc!!!! Don't try talking to Lexmark. They know all this & tell me straight out they are NOT going to upgrade the X6675 for Windows 7 64 bit.

Bottom line ~ do not purchase any new printer based solely on information you find from any of the "hardware compatibility" websites. A better idea is to make a short list of hardware you are interested in, then contact each manufacturer and verify yourself. Yeah, it's a royal pain.

Oh, and about getting a manufacturer's human being on the phone to ask your intelligent questions ~ well, good luck with that.

Response from Nick Simpson – Printerbase Ltd
Hi Linda, I am sorry to hear that you're having problems with your Lexmark machine. According to Lexmark's website there is a driver for both Windows 7 32-bit and 64-bit. You need to make sure you download and install the correct version as incorrect drivers can cause serious issues to the stability of your operating system. If you have done everything correctly and it's still not working I would recommend contacting Lexmark's Technical Support Team to see if they can solve the problem. The correct number to call is 0207 365 2496. Please come back and let us know how you get on.

Don't fight anymore. If your new computer has x64 bit with windows 7, and your printer is x32 bit, the printer won't work. No matter what you do , it won't. Windows 7 runs in x64 bit and other hardware like a printer

Response from Nick Simpson - Printerbase Ltd
It's the software you install on the computer that needs to be compatible with the operating system rather than the actual hardware you're trying to connect but if there is no software available it may not be possible to ever get that piece of hardware working. There are sometimes work-arounds but it can be trial and error.

I have a HP Officejet Pro L7480 and my problem is that, after I have stripped my computer of existing drivers and downloaded the new (windows 7 compatible) drivers from the HP Website, I then reconnect my printer which automatically uploads is own pre-intalled drivers (not compatible with Windows 7) to my pc which muddles the whole thing up again.

After spending A LOT of money on a very good printer I think I'm now going to have to bin it and bu something else. :0(

Something for everyone to be aware of:

Compatibility of old printer hardware with new operating systems is always a problem. It’s usually Microsoft and Apple that alter things and cause the original drivers to be incompatible. If the printer is discontinued there is a chance that the printer manufacturer will decide not to re-work the old drivers for new operating systems. As you can imagine writing new drivers for every printer is a massive job so manufacturers look at the demand (how many toner/inks are still being purchased, etc) and if it’s very low you may have no option but to upgrade your printer.

Kind regards

I have an old HP Colour LaserJet 4550 which won't work under Win 7, whereas with XP, it was fine. OK, it is slow, but it is a real workhorse and the colour is very good. Tried all kinds of solutions - downloaded different drivers, had Microsoft support - but still can't print colour images. Do I buy a new printer or revert back to XP?

Printerbase - please will you tell me which of these HP Colour Lasers will DEFINITELY work with Win 7 = HP1215, HP1515, HP2025, HP3525. I can't afford to make a mistake!

Have you tried this Windows 7 driver on HP’s website:
http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareIndex.jsp?lang=en&cc=uk&prodNameId=21860&prodTypeId=18972&prodSeriesId=27901&swLang=8&taskId=135&swEnvOID=4062

If you still wish to buy a new machine all current printers are fully compatible with Windows 7, including the one’s you have mentioned.

Just to let you know that HP do NOT have an answer to this problem.

I have tried since acquiring my new Win7 pc in January to get either /or both of my HP printers to work properly with the 'help' of severa,l increasingly thick, agents from HP until I finally got one, Charles, who actually listened and was relatively intelligent to my problem.

He 'kinda' fixed things...a bit but the driver I now have from HP is for a much older model which wasn't a photosmart printer so the quality is, as might be expected, not up to the usual HP standard. So I'm stuck with two otherwise perfect printers that can't do photographs.

Not a 'fix' in my book.

I have a HP Deskjet 6840 which has a basic Win 7 driver that works but is missing all the frills.

Every few days i am told that it has gone offline and so I must remove the printer and then reinstall. A real pain.....

I am XXXXX off. It is not fair. I buy a new computer and now have to buy a new printer because my old does not work like it should. I scan alot in PDF. Now I can not..HP printers are not working with Windows 7. I looked online they gave me patch but it only allowed me to use the printer sometimes and with limitations. What is up with that?
Make sure when you buy a printer, it has been tested with windows 7, Dont listen to the windows web site, even if it says compatible. It is not, trust me...

Try:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=uk&lang=en&product=306888&
or http://tinyurl.com/yzj5md3
It explains that HP don't have a driver for Windows 7 but a basic driver is provided with Windows 7 that will allow basic operation of your printer.
